New ‘Mobilisights’ business unit advances Stellantis’ growing data and connected services offer | Automotive World

Mobilysite will leverage data from Stellantis’ connected vehicles, which are expected to reach 34 million by 2030.

Today at CES 2023, Stellantis NV announced the establishment of Mobilisights, an independent business unit, fully dedicated to growing the company’s Data as a Service (DaaS) business and developing and licensing innovative B2B products, applications and services. MobiliSight products will be available to a variety of organizations, including private enterprises, public-sector utilities, education and research institutions, encouraging data-driven decision-making and enabling a broad portfolio of applications and services.

As one of the seven accretive business units announced at Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, Mobilisights represents an important step in Stellantis’ efforts to grow and accelerate its software and data business.

“Mobilicites’ vision is to contribute to a smarter world, with vehicle data providing insights to inspire innovative applications and services that can change and dramatically improve the daily lives of users and businesses,” said Sanjeev Ghate, CEO. “When used effectively, the sensors and other data available from connected vehicles can enable a wide range of services and applications with compelling benefits, from personalized usage-based insurance to road hazard detection and traffic management. With its 14 iconic brands and millions of connected vehicles, Stellantis There is unparalleled global data scale that is able to drive this business forward.”

Fully leveraging data from the 34 million connected vehicles the company plans to reach by the end of the decade, Mobilisights has exclusive access and license rights to vehicle and related data from all Stellantis brands to external customers. Such data concentration will give Mobilisights a greater degree of autonomy when it relies on other data providers to power applications.

Stellantis’ software strategy deploys a next-generation technology platform, building on existing connected vehicle capabilities to transform how customers interact with their vehicles. The strategy, detailed during Stellantis’ Software Day in December 2021, is expected to generate incremental annual revenues of 20 billion euros by 2030. Mobilysites will be a major contributor to that revenue.

Mobilisights and its partners will operate within very strict data governance and privacy policies. This includes using anonymous and aggregated data and only sharing customers’ personal data with their consent and only for specific services they choose. Customers can opt out of the collection, use or sharing of information even after they have given their consent.

“The basis of this whole business is trust,” said Sanjeev Ghate. “Trust in our stewardship of data and trust that we’re here to create a better world.”
